PSU energy firms to set up startup fund

September 5, 2019 | gzfrmzwx | No Comments

first_imgPublic sector oil and gas companies in India will set up a fund to help innovative start-ups in the energy sector to bootstrap, said Union Petroleum and Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at the Natural Gas Vision 2025 conference, the Mint reported. The start-up fund, still in its infancy to be clearly spelt out, wishes to create a corpus that would be utilised to invest in new business models and bring efficiency. Heads of the state-run oil companies will take part in the government’s start-up initiative. “Any start-up needing hand-holding can seek support from the fund. Public sector companies will independently evaluate the commercial viability of the project and take a decision on their equity participation,” Pradhan was quoted by the Mint as saying. Stressing the importance of energy to the country in the coming days, Pradhan said: “Indian intellectual capacity is contributing immensely to the global oil and gas economy. We would like the Indian energy market too to benefit from that capacity.””The PSUs are working on setting up a venture capital fund to encourage start-ups to develop new business models, marketing plans, technology and innovation in hydrocarbon arena,” the minister was quoted by the Financial Express. A PwC survey on India Gas Sector 2016 was unveiled during the day. Gas is the future of energy in India and it is the 21st century fuel, highlighted the report and added that it would soon contribute 15 percent of the country’s energy mix.”The government must play an active role by creating infrastructure first, without a great emphasis on immediate demand. It should act as a facilitator and developer of infrastructure,” according to the report. “Regulatory reforms are key to the seamless development of the gas sector.” Pradhan seemed confident of India’s import dependence on energy to be reduced by 10 percent by 2022. For that to happen, the production of gas is crucial, he added. Welcoming such an effort, former chairman of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Ranbir Singh Butola said the minister believes the fund will cater to innovation across the entire oil and gas value chain. “There will be many takers for it, especially those who seek to cater to the consumer end of the energy industry,” he added. The move is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government’s idea of promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and self employment. The government launched a start-up initiative last year and brought out an action plan in January 2016.last_img read more

first_imgBut why tagging PM in this instead of filling a complaint with Mumbai police. I have seen standing comedians librus cracking worst jokes than this against Narendra Modi. I completely condemn such abusive & vile comments coming from any side of the aisle, however Anurag what are you achieving by just tagging PM Modi ? If you are really serious about the safety of your daughter then tag the police. Modi is a Chowkidar, not a Hawaldar. Jitendra Kr. Lenka⏺‏ @jitendralenkaa Chowkidar Sunil Jain‏ @Sunil961 Rajnish Chaudhary‏ @Rajnishrrc I doubt if he understand the meaning and ideology behind putting Chowkidar in front of his name. So for any such incidence immediately file an complaint rather than twitting such a serious thing on twitter!!! Amit A‏ @Amit_smiling Swati Davari‏ @swatidavari Sailor‏ @sailorsmoon Sir complaint kariye. Modi ji ne nahi sikhaya ye sab kisi ko naa hi unki party ye sab endorse karti hai. Kalyani Oswal‏ @K_Oswal Krishna‏ @Atheist_Krishna Smit Vijay‏ @vj_smit Mr. Kashyap tell me how is Mr. Narendra Modi responsible for this threat by someone whome perhaps Modi ji not even knowing. Go complain to the police as simple as that. How is Modi responsible for an act of any individual….? A screenshot of Anurag Kashyap’s Twitter post and rape threat to his daughterTwitterati have slammed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap after he complained to Narendra Modi about his followers threatening to rape his daughter and said that the Prime Minister is a chowkidar, not a hawaldar.Anurag Kashyap, who is a big critic of Modi’s brand of politics, has been vehemently ranting against the PM for the last several months. His views have hurt the followers of NaMo, who have trolled the filmmaker on several occasions. The undeterred filmmaker blasted the trolls.Soon after PM Modi-led NDA won a majority of Lok Sabha seats on May 23, one of his followers had replied to a post of Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah. The fan, with the handle Chowkidar_ramsanghi_, threatened to rape her if she does not tell her father to stop his Twitter rant.Anurag Kashyap had also shared the screenshot of Ramsanghi’s reply to his daughter Aaliyah and questioned NaMo on his follower’s rape threat.Anurag Kashyap tweeted, “Dear @narendramodi sir. Congratulations on your victory and thank you for the message of inclusiveness. Sir please also tell us how do we deal with these followers of yours who celebrate your victory by threatening my daughter with messages like this for me being your dissenter.”Many Twitterati, including some followers of PM Modi, have condemned Ramsanghi’s rape threat to Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah. But they asked the filmmaker to stop ranting and approach the police. Such threats should not be dealt so casually. If there is no action, then he might want to tag the PM or whoever he wants. Right now ranting online, serves no purpose.Yo Yo Funny Singh‏ @moronhumor Jamin Majethia‏ @Majethiajdcenter_img Shivanshi Dixit‏ @ShivanshiDixit Modi ji ko tag karne se acha police ko tag karoge to jyada sahi rahega sir Please instead of asking to NaMo, you should file police complaint, they should get punished. Twitterati’s reply to Anurag KashyapTwitterश्री‏ @srbisen I hope you have filed a complaint with police / cyber crime to investigate facts. It’s better they investigate rather than you announcing that he is a @narendramodi follower. Don’t forget some anti-national elements will always try to create unrest, don’t fall prey to it. These guys are idiots. Complain to police and get them booked. Modi is not SHO of your nearest police station. MaHaK‏ @mahakbhawani We get this kind of stuff too. first_imgTo keep its chief Subrata Roy out on bail, Sahara Group coughed up Rs. 300 crore on Wednesday. Another bail extension till September 2016 will cost the group another Rs. 300 crore, ruled the Supreme Court.Since the arrest of Roy in 2014, the court has held the group pay Rs. 10,000 crore (half in cash and rest in bank guarantee) for an interim bail. However, on May 4, 2016, Roy was released conditionally to attend his mother’s funeral — discounting the bail term. The latest round of payment helped the group clock a total cash deposit of Rs. 10,000 crore. Kapil Sibal, the group’s lawyer, trying to establish the company’s bonafides, said the bank guarantees too are expected to follow. However, the Supreme Court said that the payment of bail bond amount was not a guarantee for Roy’s freedom as the company’s principal liability was Rs. 24,000 crore. In an earlier judgement, the court had highlighted that another Rs. 12,000 crore remains to be paid as interest on principal.”We are getting tired of recovering the outstanding dues from you. At this rate (Rs 200-300 crore at a time every three months), you will take 10 years to pay up the principal amount,” the bench was quoted as saying by ToI.Sibal said the company plans to repay the entire Rs. 24,000 crore within 18 months. On Sebi’s lawyers seeking a sale of Sahara’s Ambi Valley property to recover the dues, Sibal said the move was akin to killing the golden goose. The bench quipped that all it needed were the golden eggs and not the goose in itself.last_img read more

first_imgThe boardroom war between Tata Sons-Cyrus Mistry is all set to get fierce as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Friday informed the stock exchanges that it would hold an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) on December 13 to consider ousting Cyrus Mistry as its director. After the removal of Cyrus Mistry as the chairman of Tata Group in October, Tata Sons had last week replaced him with Ishaat Hussain as the chairman of TCS.Earlier on Friday, the board of TCS met for the first time under its newly-appointed chairman Ishaat Hussain. However, Mistry – a director of the firm – was not present. In a notification to stock exchanges, TCS said, “The Board of Directors of the company, at its meeting held on November 17, 2016 has decided to convene an EGM pursuant to the special notice & requisition dated November 9, 2016 sent by Tata Sons, shareholder of the company holding 73.26 per cent of the paid-up equity share capital of the company, to consider and if thought fit, to pass a resolution for removal of CP Mistry as director of the company.”In an unusual move, Mistry was removed as the chairman of Tata Sons last month with Ratan Tata returning as its interim head. This has led to a bitter boardroom struggle with allegations and counter allegations flying thick. On Tuesday, Mistry was removed as the chairman of Tata Global Beverages, which co-owns and runs Starbucks coffee stores across India. The move to convene EGM of TCS is important in many ways as it contributes more than 60 percent of the $116-billion market capitalisation of Tata Group. It also makes for over 70 percent of Tata Sons’ revenue, which comes as dividends from its listed firms. Analysts are of the opinion that firm grip over TCS is likely to strengthen Tata Son’s position over this blue chip firm.last_img read more

From finding a new place to checking real-time traffic updates, Google Maps helps out millions with its guidance. But even the best ones tend to fail sometimes and Google Maps one minor error stranded hundreds in an empty field. To make matters worse, commuters were trying to get to an airport to either pick someone or catch a flight.According to CNN, a crash on Pena Boulevard, which connects to Denver International Airport in Colorado, triggered Google Maps to look for an alternate route to the airport without being stuck in the traffic. Like always, Google Maps suggested a detour, which reportedly cut the estimated time to reach the destination in half. Who wouldn’t take it?When hundreds of drivers found Google Maps’ supposedly wise suggestion, they didn’t think twice before taking the detour. After all, the alternate route showed only 23 minutes to the destination, which was initially 43 minutes, Connie Monsees, a woman who was on her way to the airport to pick her husband when she encountered the wreck Pena Boulevard, told CNN. Google Maps misguided hundredsREUTERS/Dado RuvicTo her surprise, and a hundred others, Google Maps’ detour turned out to be a nightmare. Following the directions, drivers were led to an empty field. A couple of cars up front had already been stuck in the mud, which brought the further incoming vehicles to a standstill. The mud road was so narrow that cars couldn’t make a U-turn to join the original route, stranding hundreds in middle of nowhere. In response to this fiasco, Google said that the road it suggested was not marked private.”We take many factors into account when determining driving routes, including the size of the road and the directness of the route,” the company said in a statement. “While we always work to provide the best directions, issues can arise due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather. We encourage all drivers to follow local laws, stay attentive, and use their best judgment while driving,” Google said in a statement, CNN reported. Google Maps suggests detour, leaves hundreds of drivers in shockandroidspin.comMonsees, who experienced it all first hand, said her car was able to get out of the muddy road as it was an all-wheel drive. She also managed to give two people a ride to the airport and they caught their flight. This is not the first time Google Maps misguided its users. Recently, a similar incident took place in Goa, India, where it gave the wrong route to those who were trying to get to the Baga beach. As a result, locals resorted to the old-school method of putting up a banner that said: “You are fooled by Google Maps.”Have you been a victim of Google Maps’ misguidance?
