Tyrone L. Peters, age 69 of Maineville, Ohio and formerly of Batesville, died Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Bickford of Middletown. Born March 4, 1947, he is the son of Irene (Nee: Bruns) and Charley Peters. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. After the service he became a civilian contractor for the U.S. Navy at the Jefferson Proving Grounds working as a crane and heavy equipment operator, retiring in September of 2003 after thirty years. He married Sue Sherman on September 5, 1970 and she preceded him in death March 11, 2002.While stationed in Thailand, a friend taught him to play guitar. It was a hobby he would enjoy for the rest of his life. Another passion was hand carving animals from wood. A talented artist, Ty built an extensive collection over his lifetime. His family also indicated he was an avid Reds fan, followed both the Bengals and the Colts and liked watching the new Hawaii 5-0 series as well as “The Voice.”He is survived by his sister Sharon Cozart of Batesville; brother Gerald (Gary) Peters of Lebanon, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers William and Greg Peters. Visitation is Wednesday, April 6th, from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Maurice Church in Napoleon with Rev. William Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. The family requests memorials to Hospice of Dayton.
