first_imgEmily Hawryschuk and Sarah Cooper were both named to the Media All-American second team by Inside Lacrosse on Tuesday. Hawryschuk led Syracuse with 75 goals in 2019 and Cooper is of two freshmen chosen in Inside Lacrosse’s Media All-American selections.In her junior season, Hawryschuk took over control of the Orange’s scoring attack, registering a hat trick in 18 of SU’s 21 games. She scored an overtime game-winner against then-No. 4 Northwestern in the Carrier Dome on Feb. 24, and finished the season with the second-most goals in program history.Hawryschuk led the way with seven points in Syracuse’s first NCAA tournament win since 2016, and had another five-goal performance in the Orange’s loss to the Wildcats in the NCAA quarterfinals.“It shows that she refuses to be denied,” head coach Gary Gait said after SU’s season-ending loss. “She’s one of the few players in the country that hasn’t been shut out before.”Cooper came into Syracuse as the No. 1-ranked defender in the Class of 2018, and followed it up with a team-high 33 caused turnovers. Hawryschuk and Cooper passed the ball to each other twice until Cooper scored on the run, netting her first and only collegiate goal.
